Robin Swaisland

Robin is an extremely experienced Project Manager and Management Consultant who has been living and working in Grenada for most of the last 11 years. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Consulting.

He project managed multi-million pound international aerospace defence system projects and extensive organisational development programmes during a 23-year career in the UK Ministry of Defence. Switching his interest to International Development he worked in Africa on Public Sector Management Projects for 7 years before moving to Grenada, where he managed a UK-funded Public Sector Management Reform Programme, which was curtailed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. He was then instrumental in the establishment and management of the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD). During these projects he forged strong working relationships with Government Ministers, senior Public Officers and Business Leaders in Grenada. As the work of ARD came to an end in 2007 Robin was recruited by Camper & Nicholsons to work on their acquisition of the Port Louis Marina. He was retained by C&N as Project Manager for the marina’s further development into a 170 berth business, which was achieved in 2010.

His most recent project involved a temporary relocation to St Helena Island in the South Atlantic, where he worked on Public Sector Modernisation in preparation for the construction of the island’s first airport. On the successful completion of this assignment Robin returned to Grenada in 2013.

Robin has developed a clear understanding of the practical and cultural issues involved in managing development projects in “foreign” countries, especially the need for meaningful consultation and comprehensive planning. His ability to relate to and communicate effectively with all levels of communities has enabled him to achieve significant success in such projects over the past 18 years. He is a problem solver, not afraid to take decisions, and is a team-player.
